Madelyn Kate "Mady" Gosselin is the second oldest daughter of Jon and Kate Gosselin, fraternal twin to Cara, and an older sister to Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel.

Early life

Mady was born at five forty-seven p.m., six minutes after her fraternal twin Cara, on October 8, 2000 at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center. She weighed five pounds and one ounce. The girls were five weeks premature.

Cara was born with a hemangiona on the side of her nose. When they were young, Kate told the girls that it was an angel kiss. She explained to them that after Cara left Heaven first, an angel with red lipstick on kissed her, and by the time she kissed Mady, her lipstick had worn off. The hemangiona went away by itself.

Mady describes Kate as being firm, and says that all she, Mady, has ever known is work, which she thinks is a bad thing if one has too much.

When the kids meet Kendra, Mady says she knew who she was, because she used to sneak down to the basement and watch her show. She remarks that Kendra seemed kind of nervous to meet them.

Personality

In Jon and Kate Plus 8, Mady is shown as being very animated and loving to talk. She also threw tantrums, could be selfish, and became moody when things didn't go her way. Kate described her as authoritative and bossy, much like herself, but unscheduled and disheveled, like Jon.

Mady is described by the TLC Kate Plus 8 website as "born to be the center of attention" and kindhearted and sensitive. It adds that she loves singing and performing and has a soft spot for animals of any kind.

As seen in her recent television appearance Celebrity Wife Swap, Mady behaves much more modestly from her earlier television years. During her blogging stint with thestir, Kate described Cara and Mady as being "responsible, lovely, helpful, respectful girls who do extremely well in school." She is close with her mother much like her sister Hannah.

Personal life

Kate received criticism and backlash from tweeting a picture of then-eleven-year-old Mady wearing her heels. Kate captioned the photo: "'hafta make u guess who just HAD to try on my heels that I just unpacked from my bag tonight... Starts w an 'M.'" The photo, which shows Mady's legs, was taken in September 2012 and deemed too "sexy" by the public, who mainly claimed it was not a good idea to tweet such a picture "for pedophiles to see."

In March 2013, Kate threw Cara and Mady a "braces on" party to get them prepared to get braces. The girls invited friends over and ate candy and foods usually prohibited when wearing the wires.

In an August 2013 interview with People magazine, it is revealed that Mady is not a fan of school, but loves to act. She is quoted as saying a dream of hers is being on Disney Channel.

Cara and Mady celebrated their thirteen birthdays by eating at Chipotle, then going home, eating cake and ice cream, and opening presents. Prior to this, they had a sleepover that included a total of nine girls, made pizza and cake, and ate candy. They also went to see the One Direction concert movie This Is Us with their mother, which was Mady's idea.
